Firemen’s Park Chaska Engagement Session / Megan + Billy

Megan and Billy both grew up in the Twin Cities, but didn’t meet until they attended college at University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. They attended a party with mutual friends, and after some conversation and “liquid courage,” a friendship began. Fast-forward a few years, and they will now be married this weekend at Billy’s family church in Hastings, Minnesota. They chose Firemen’s Park in Chaska for their engagement session this past summer, and with their wedding to come this weekend, it seemed like the perfect time to share some of their session.

I met Megan at her sister Erin’s wedding a few years ago. Erin recently moved to Chaska and Firemen’s Park was on the way to her place. Megan drove by it many times and always thought it looked beautiful, especially at night.

We met there on a Friday evening just before sunset. Megan and Billy were excited to explore the park, so we started on the dock that overlooked the water. The park was busy with others who wanted to do the same.

Firemen’s Park has several trails that go around the water, so Megan and Billy picked a direction and strolled along. Megan’s mom was also a photographer, so she’s used to the camera. Billy had little experience but wasn’t afraid to get silly and strike the occasional pose.

These two play off each other so well. They are carefree, fun, and make each other laugh. They were willing to with the flow, especially when the grey clouds blocked the sunset. Instead of chasing the light, we created our own at the water feature for one last shot.
