Nicollet Island Engagement Session / Elin + Mike
Elin and Mike met online. They had their first date at the Sample Room in Minneapolis and for their second, Mike gave Elin a tour of where he grew up. They biked through Boom Island and ended up at Nicollet Island. It only made sense for them to keep it local when it came to choosing a location for their Boom Island / Nicollet Island Engagement Session.
The best part of Boom Island is the great views of the river and the Minneapolis skyline. We met at the main parking lot and started on the bridge. A family on their boat drove underneath and all the kids adorably shouted, “Congratulations.”
After the bridge, we walked through the main area of the park. Unfortunately, there was some construction, so we couldn’t take photos on the bridge or walk up the stairs that take you to Nicollet Island, but it was beautiful all the same.
It was my first time exploring the island. The houses were brightly colored and tall with painted wood details. It almost felt like we were traveling back in time. People were sitting on their porches, some playing instruments, it was straight out of a movie. It felt so quaint and so lovely.
Mike guided us to a great spot to catch another incredible view of the skyline that was tucked away just off the road. We walked back on the road to the train tracks and finished the session by the old metal bridge.
Elin and Mike’s wedding day is approaching fast, and I couldn’t be more excited to photograph them again. I actually know all of them from the yoga studio- Elin’s parents frequent my class and they are the coolest. Stay tuned, more to come.
Boom Island is one of my favorite places for engagement sessions. Here are two more from this spot!
