Wood Lake Nature Center Engagement Session / Maggie + Eric
Maggie and Eric met back in 2016. They were engaged last year when Eric woke Maggie up early for a “hike.” Maggie questioned him a bit since she isn’t an early riser, but went along with it. They went to a favorite walking spot by their house, Wood Lake Nature Center. Eric took Maggie out to the boardwalk where he got down on one knee and proposed. It seemed fitting to return to Wood Lake Nature Center for their engagement session this spring.
Wood Lake Nature Center is a hidden gem. Maggie and Eric met me there on a perfect spring night. It was quiet and serene, a perfect spot to walk and enjoy nature.
They took me down a trail so we could start their session at the exact spot he proposed. Unfortunately, we arrived to find the boardwalk was out and we wouldn’t be able to get to the exact place. We always go with the flow, so we did some photos on the trail, which had its own kind of beauty.
We then ventured to the other side of the park to follow the sunset. The sky turned pink, and the bright colors reflected off the lake. Maggie and Eric showed off a few of the new dance moves they had learned from the lessons they took to prepare for their wedding day.
Their wedding in downtown Minneapolis is now five days away. They are having a traditional ceremony at St. Olaf Church followed by a reception at the Minneapolis Club across the street.
These two have a spark between them that is contagious. I’m so eager to spend their day with them.
I always encourage my couples to pick an engagement spot that brings their story into the photos. It makes the session more fun and meaningful. Here’s another couple who took photos at one of their first date spots.
