Why You Should Hire A Day Of Coordinator
Hey everyone, meet Chelsea, owner of Go to Gal. We met at a networking event and clicked immediately. She always has a smile on her face and is so easy to talk to. We met up for coffee a few months ago, then decided to do it again over bloody’s and beers. What I really love about Chelsea is that she treats her clients just like I do- with care, love, and support, which is why I thought she would be the perfect person to answer questions about day of coordination and event planning, as well as share why hiring a day of coordinator is essential for a stress-free wedding day.
Go to Gal does wedding and event planning as well as day of event coordination. What does that mean? She can either help fully plan your wedding or show up day of to ensure things run smooth. Go to Gal’s wants to make you feel like a guest at your own event so you can sit back and be truly present for each moment.
The first step with her is a consultation where she determines how she can lay out her services to fit your needs. She coordinates everything from set up, making timelines, getting in touch with the other vendors as well as answering any guest questions. This is especially important when we talk weddings because the bride and groom tend to field all questions when it comes to their wedding day.
She loves doing day of coordination because she gets to see the action come to life.
“No matter how many weddings you have done, they are all different so it’s great to meet people’s family and friends- even when you are running around in the background. Seeing the bride and groom so happy and enjoying their day is what I live for.”
I asked her for five reasons why a bride and groom should hire a coordinator and she gave me following list.
1- There are so many details day of that come up the day of that you don’t realize.
2- Your family members should enjoy your wedding day too instead of being put to work.
3- The coordinator takes over so if there are questions from other vendors or family members, they can talk to the coordinator so no stress falls on the bride and groom.
4- The bride and groom only have one responsibility when there is a coordinator- and that is getting married and loving every second of it.
5- The venue coordinator is not the same as a day of coordinator or planner.
I asked her to elaborate on the last piece since it can be confusing. What is the difference between your venue coordinator and hiring a day of coordinator or planner?
Chelsea explained that venue coordinators are there to ensure the venue is ready for your big day, but not there to help arrange the details day of. They are there to make sure the bathrooms are clean, garbages are empty, and the space ready. Chelsea adds that it’s important to ask your venue coordinator what they do day of and what they don’t do day of.
She adds, “Before you even assume- ask about the venue coordinator’s duties. They may just focus on one area. A few good questions to ask them- are they setting up decor or the chairs for the ceremony? Are they dismissing tables for dinners or cleaning them up after dinner is through? Are they taking down decor, or putting gifts away?”
Chelsea’s biggest tip for all you couples getting married out there is to not stress about wedding planning because it’s the best day of your life. It’s not worth it to look back at the day and it be filled with stress.
Chelsea loves the DIY brides who appreciate the help and who want to create something unique and appreciate every detail.
On free weekends, she loves to garden and camp. She’s married and has a little boy named Carter. On her tacos she loves guacamole- that’s my kind of girl.
I’m so grateful to have met Chelsea- she’s a real gem and unbelievably great at her job, so if you are looking for a day of coordinator of planner for your big event, you can reach her at –
