My New Studio Space!
I took another big step this month on my journey as a photographer and am so excited to announce that I now have a studio space! It’s located by the Grainbelt Building in North East Minneapolis, and although I’ve only had this space for almost a month, it just feels right.
One thing that drew me to this space right away is it’s size! There’s not only a large lounge area, but two shooting spaces. The windows create some nice natural light, and I love the option of shooting on the white walls or the sandy brick.
On the other side of the studio, there is a changing room so you can bring five shirts instead of three. Next to the changing room is also a mini fridge and storage space for lights, backdrops, and other props. Other key amenities are lots of parking, an elevator, and it’s across the street from a coffee shop and bar.
I’ve always wanted to get a studio space but have always been afraid of the cost and also failure. I love torturing myself with self doubt which is a habit I’m trying to break. The thought of adding on a studio made me question if it would really be worth the anxiety and stress. I’m glad I’ve confronted a bit of my fear because using this space has been nothing short of awesome, even when the band next door is rehearsing that same song I’ve now heard 100 times.
I have enough work right now to pay my month to month, but when things get slower in Janruary, I’m going to force myself to use the space to expand my creativity with some hopeful collaborations! If you ever want a personal tour or to come visit, hit me up, I would love to work together!
