NDSU Engagement Session / Kayla + Jacob

Kayla and Jacob met 6 years ago during band camp at NDSU in Fargo, ND.  Kayla plays the trumpet, and Jacob plays the saxophone.  They weren’t in the same band, but thanks to friends and some luck, crossed paths and were able to meet during this weekend.  Fast forward a few years and they are happily together and planning their fall wedding.  They love animals and have a cat named storm and right before their October engagement session at Minnehaha Falls Park, adopted a sweet black dog named Samson who made taking photos all the more fun.
This past October, we had some wacky weather in the twin cities.  It was cold, grey and rainy for Kayla and Jacobs session, but the clouds held off and we were able to make the most of the peak fall colors.  I often feel like the clouds make the colors more saturated and pop a bit more.  We met at the waterfall, of course, and Samson was so well behaved as his mom and dad posed for photos on the rocks.
We made our way back up the steps to walk around the park in search of the perfect fall leaves.  Kayla and Jacob found a great pile of red and orange ones under a tree and invited Samson to snuggle and play with them on the ground.  Samson posed in-between them for a few more photos, then Kayla and Jacob put on their NDSU sweat shirts for a few final pics to make their session all the more special.  I love it when couples can incorporate their past or how they met into their engagement session, it gives it a little something extra to tie their love story together.
I am so excited for these two and their upcoming wedding day!  They are so fun, easy going, and have a little goofy side to the booth of them- exactly my kind of people.  More photos on the blog to come from them and hopefully Samson too!
