Coldwater Spring Minneapolis Engagement Session / Kiriann + Aaron
Kiriann and Aaron met on Halloween. She was a sassy saloon worker, he a bloody lumberjack. They connected right away, in the midst of the fun and festivities, then reconnected again in their regular day clothes. They hail from St. Cloud, but love spending time in Minneapolis when they can. They are planning their June wedding at Aaron’s aunt’s house near the city, so they decided to make a day of wedding planning and finished it at Coldwater Spring in Minneapolis for their engagement session.
Coldwater Spring is nestled on the edge of Minneahaha Falls Park. It’s appears to be a small park at first, but you could follow the trails for miles and miles and eventually hit the Mississippi River. Kiriann and Aaron wanted somewhere rustic, but also showed off Minnesota summer beauty, and this is one of those spots that hits both of these requests.
We met just before sunset and made our way through the trails. It was mid September, so the trees had barely started to change, but when the golden sunlight hit the tall grasses, it just felt like fall. We walked, talked, and then stopped for some pictures.
Aaron’s a total goofball, and Kiriann’s has the whole adorably shy thing going for her. They make a great pair and are so fun to hang out with. They told me during our first meeting that they just wanted to be able to be themselves in their photos, and that’s how it was. Aaron’s jokes and banter made Kiriann laugh and smile. They were both so natural and just fell into place.
Coldwater Spring in Minneapolis is one of my favorite pockets of nature in the city. It’s calm, quiet, and homes to many types of birds (I found that out when I was in the park and ran into a tour group once). Here’s another session from this location that includes puppies.
