Abbie and Derek – 5/28/17 – Banquets of MN Wedding

Abbie and Derek are fun, silly, and so in love!  I think the way they met will convince you more than my words.  They actually met at a fair.  Abbie got separated from her friends, but thankfully ran into Derek who she had met before through friends.  He was kind enough to give her his phone so she could find them.  This was a smart move on Derek’s part because after she returned his phone they went on a date, then another and another, and so on.  They currently live out of state but came home to the Banquets of Minnesota so family and friends could witness their wedding day, and what a day it was!

Their day started at the Hilton in New Brighton and while the ladies had their hair and makeup done, the groomsmen were downstairs in the grooms room enjoying scotch, fireball and toasts.  After Abbie put on her dress, the wedding party and Derek boarded the shuttle while Abbie’s parents drove her a place outside St John’s the Baptist Church to start their first look.

Abbie looked absolutely ravishing and Derek literally had to hold onto his suspenders the first time he saw her.  After her personal attendant put in her cathedral length vail, the couple took a stroll while we candidly captured photos and video and slowly added their wedding party in.

Of course, the girls were stunning and smiling and the guys were goofing around making jokes, but that’s the yin and yang of any great wedding party!  From start to finish, their bridal party was fun, energetic and so supportive, the are lucky to have such great friends.

Everyone made their way inside for their ceremony where Derek’s uncle helped preside, and with the blessing of their families and friends, the happy couple shared a kiss and made their way back down the isle to celebrate.

While the wedding party cruised around, the cocktail hour kicked off at the Banquets of Minnesota.  Besides delicious passed appetizers, the couple had an ice sculpture surrounded by fruit.  Abbie’s brother’s band set up and played some unplugged tunes for their guests.

The mingling continued until the wedding party arrived and marched in.  After several toasts, Abbie’s brother’s band took the floor again and kicked off the dance with some rocking tunes.  One of my favorite moments happened right before my time with them ended.  Abbie’s brother plays the drums, but got up to the mic to sing a very special rendition of “Shout!”  Every guest was on the floor, dancing, jumping, and appropriately enough, Abbie and Derek at one point ended up laughing and holding each other on the ground surrounded by all the love and energy of their families and friends.

What a way to end the night!!! I wanna cool brother that plays in a band!

Abbie and Derek— you two rock!  I had so much fun hanging out with you two all day, I was sore from laughing the next day, we could get into some super awesome trouble together.  I wish you two the best and if you come back to MN- can we please hang out!  So much love to you both!
