Laura and Jesse – 7/22/16 – Carlos Creek Winery, Alexandria, Minnesota
Laura and Jesse decided to get married in between their home towns. Laura is from Detroit Lakes and Jesse is from Minneapolis. They mapped it out and 2.5 hours away, there is an awesome lake town called Alexandria. My family used to have a cabin here, so when Laura and Jesse inquired with me to shoot their wedding, I jumped at the chance to return to this incredible town and capture their wedding at Carlos Creek Winery.
Their day started at a hotel in town where the girls were sipped champaign as they got their hair and makeup done. Laura originally planned on having her hair halfway down, but their wedding day temperature pushed the upper 90’s. Being a smart bride, she switched it up, and looked absolutly stunning with her up-do. The boys go ready upstairs in Jesse’s room, and worked on their ties as they reminisced the good times.
Two shuttles took everyone to the winery for their first look and photos of the wedding party and family. As I mentioned, it was one of the hottest days of summer, but everyone managed to put on a smile and look darn good doing it! The boys rocked it out in their full suits, and the girls looked so beautiful in their long pink dresses and flowers to match. We took some relief in the venue for family photos and shortly after, it was time to head to the ceremony.
As the couple relaxed and lunched in the back of the church, their guests arrived at the Church of St. Mary’s for their ceremony. Laura’s cousin and bridesmaid performed a song as Jesse and his family came down the isle, and once they were finished, they jumped in line and made their way down as well. Their ceremony was a traditional Catholic mass, but their father added in a beautiful message. He talked about how marriage is not only a commitment, but it was coming together as a team. When two people in love combine their actions, efforts, and intentions, marriage is more of a joy. Instead of focusing on compromises or adjustments, when two people join together as a team, marriage works toward happiness, and the two people are forced to see every moment as a play which gets them there. I’m not one for sports references, but I liked this!
After the ceremony, the bridal party boarded the bus and we parted ways. I’m sure the reception was incredible, and to be apart of half of their wedding day was truly amazing! Congratulations Laura and Jesse, you two are so kind and sweet, I wish you a beautiful life together!
