William Sauntry Mansion Wedding / 8.12.17 / Jessica and Justin
Jessica and Justin met at a stoplight party. This party was all about the colors- if you wore red that meant you were in a relationship, if you wore yellow that meant you were dating and open to meeting new people, if you wore green that meant you were single and ready to mingle. Jessica didn’t get the memo and wore blue and white stripes. Standing out worked to her advantage because Justin spotted her immediately and struck up a conversation that would eventually lead to them exchanging vows in front of families at the William Sauntry Mansion on their wedding day.
The William Sauntry Mansion sits on a hill just on the outskirts of downtown in Stillwater, Minnesota. The first floor has space for dining and socializing, and a charming stair case leads you up to a hallway with intricate blue wall paper and oil painted portraits of old tenants.
Jessica and Justin worked on getting ready upstairs, which turned out to be more challenging then they expected. Jessica has to buy a whole new wedding dress a few days since her current dress was altered wrong. Justin picked up his suit and they forgot to pack his shirt, so he had to borrow a shirt from his uncle. They didn’t let these mishaps stop their day, and made their way down the stairs, looking amazing, for photos.
We made our way to downtown Stillwater to take some photos by the river. The sun was shining and the streets were filled with tourists enjoying a festival called Lumberjack Days. We found some beautiful pockets around the festival with views of the St. Croix that were just perfect as their background.
Jessica’s father picked us up from downtown to take us back to the mansion for the ceremony. Since it was small and intimate, everyone gathered for a few pictures, then got into position on the lawn facing the white pergola. Jessica’s brother lead the ceremony and shared the story of how they met but also the excitement of their new adventure with moving back to New York.
The couple exchanged vows then rings, and shared a kiss after they were pronounced husband and wife. They walked back down the lawn together and made their way to the side of the mansion for a toast and delicious hors d’oeuvres by Common Roots Catering.
Their families greeted them with hugs and congratulations. Jessica’s father popped a poured champagne and made a sweet toast to the happy couple.
Jessica and Justin- best wishes to you both as you transition into your new home in New York! Thank you for having me at your intimate ceremony, it was so special and beautiful! I wish you both many years of happiness!
