Turner Hall Wedding in New Ulm, MN / Kayla + Jesse / 8.19.17

Kayla and Jesse are high school sweethearts.  They have been together for about ten years and their love has held strong through so much growth, even while they lived away from each other in college.  After graduating, they both moved to the twin cities and now share a home with their adorable husky named Nikita.  For their wedding, they returned to their home town of New Ulm where their friends and family gathered for a ceremony at the New Ulm Country Club followed by a reception at Turner Hall.

I met up with the wedding party at the New Ulm Country Club.  The girls gathered in a dressing room to help Kayla get into her dress while the groomsmen gathered at the bar to share a pitcher of beer and hit some golf balls.

Once Kayla was dressed, she met Jesse for their first look in their ceremony space.  Her dress was incredibly beautiful and so ornate with beading and lace.  She looked radiant, and the smile and Jesse’s face as he turned around proved it so.

Jesse used to work for the New Ulm Country Club, so we grabbed a few golf carts and went to a few of his favorite spots on the course.  Their wedding party and family joined us back down by the main house for photos which we wrapped up before the ceremony.

Their friends and extended family gathered outside on the lawn until the ceremony was about to begin.  It was warm, but not the usual August hot which allowed everyone to sit outside in comfort.  Several readings were shared during their ceremony, and one was extremely heart felt by Jesse’s youngest brother.  The words brought everyone around him to tears, including himself, which showed how close and special this family’s relationship is.  After vows and a kiss, Kayla and Jesse came back down the aisle as husband and wife.

The wedding party celebrated with a beer at Schell’s Beer Garden.  This place is unreal!  Peacocks roam this giant garden while brewery goers relax with a beer on one of the many benches surrounded by flowers.  Jesse and Kayla love this place and showed me the gardens as we snapped pictures.  If I’m ever in New Ulm, I’ll be back to Schell’s Brewery for a beer with a serene view!

Meanwhile, their guests gathered at Turner Hall which I learned is the oldest bar in Minnesota.  Guests enjoyed snacks, beverages, and stared at the deliciously tempting stack of cupcakes from Becky Bakes that would soon be for dessert.  After the wedding party entered, the festivities kicked off with dinner and toasts from the wedding party.  Jesse’s twin brother knocked it out of the park when he literally made toast during his speech.  That was a first for me, and I really hope not a last.  He should write speeches for a living.

Jesse and Kayla shared a first dance, and after dancing with their parents, the floor was officially open.  People of all ages gathered, young and old, so jam out to their favorites.

One thing I really loved about this Turner Hall wedding was how close everyone was.  It makes sense, your families would have to really know each other after ten years of dating.  Kayla and Jesse have tight knit relationships with not only their own siblings and parents, but with each other’s, and that makes a wedding day much more special and welcoming.

Kayla and Jesse- I am so happy for you both!  Your love is inspirational!  Thank you for having us at the New Ulm Country and Golf Club, Schell’s Brewery, and Turner Hall for your wedding day!   You us feel so welcome in your home town and we hope to come back soon!  So much love to you both and your wonderful families for being so kind and inviting!  Cheers to you — for many years of happiness!  So grateful we met!
