Julia and Chris – 8/19/16 – Shoreview Community Center, Minnesota
Julia and Chris met in high school. They were both working at Carbone’s Pizza, and Chris had a huge crush. One day, he took a brave step and asked her out via Facebook. Julia was interested, but not until he manned up and asked in person. He asked in person, they went out, and after their first date, they knew they had something special. They have been inseparable ever since. The rain didn’t stop them from looking beautiful or enjoying every moment of their wedding day, it even gave us an opportunity for one final rain shot at the Shoreview Community Center.
Their day started at Eagle Brook Church in Blaine, Minnesota. Chris and his groomsmen played Jenga while the ladies helped Julia into her gorgeous dress that made her look like a princess. The rain held off, the clouds started to part, and the ladies helped carry her long train outside for their first look. This was one of my favorites of the year because of the emotion. You can tell these two really love each other because upon first site, their eyes light up then filled with tears of joy. They embraced each other perfectly, there was no need to pose them or direct, and after the moment settled, the wedding party joined them for photos.
Right before the ceremony, the pastor gathered the wedding party for a group hug and pep talk. Everyone put their hands in the middle, and after a quick cheer, hid in separate rooms until the ceremony started. Julia and Chris read their own vows, and shared their commitment to one another. They are best friends, and have spent so much of their time together, they vowed to keep their bond strong no matter how much was going to change as they moved towards the end of their college studies and onto adult life.
After the ceremony, there was time to relax and take photos at the Shoreview Community Center. Outback was a gorgeous trail and tunnel. We grabbed an umbrella, but the rain was generous and held off until the wedding party marched in for dinner. Their closest friends shared emotionally charged toasts, and Julia’s played the guitar and sang a very special song for her and her family. The dancing started shortly after, my favorite moment was when Chris’s mom fed the bride and groom a piece of cake, it was so awesome! We ended the night out front the community center with a last look in the rain, it was truly stunning. I wish this couple the happiest of years together. They have a lifetime to grow together, and I am so honored I was able to share this very wonderful day with them!
