The most important room in my home? The kitchen! That’s where I like to spend most of my time, well, mainly because that’s where the food comes from. My husband and I alternate cooking dinner until about the end of the week when we get lazy and order take out. He’s really good with recipes, follows everything to the t, and is even better at baking- his pies are phenomenal. I on the other hand hate following recipes so when I cook, it’s usually off the top of my head and please never ask me to make you cookies or cupcakes, they are usually really flat and dense.
Because we spend so much time in the kitchen, it is well loved. Last year, the linoleum floor started to come up, and that’s when the kitchen officially became our first home project. I’m glad my husband is so handy because I have non of the that gene. I can paint, arrange furniture, and clean, but just like with recipes, I have no patience for laying intricate tile or making anything that involves power tools. He did a banging job replacing the floor with tile last year, and the last two weekends, he has worked on a backsplash and I couldn’t be happier with his efforts. I think it looks pretty snazzy, and I can’t believe it was a DIY project.
Next up for the kitchen, a paint job, and thankfully that’s something I can help with!
