Christine and Pat – 10/28/16 – Lake Elmo Inn Wedding, MN

Christine and Pat were engaged last December.  They were in Duluth enjoying the incredible display of Christmas lights with Christine’s son Charlie.  Christine sensed something was up because the two boys were acting a bit odd- almost giddy.  They were nearing the end of the light tour when Pat got down on one knee.  Christine’s heart started to pound, but Pat got up right away saying he had just tripped. Christine’s heart now sank and they continued on their walk.  After what must have felt like forever, Pat told her to stop, grabbed her hand and proposed.   He explained that last time he had knelt in a puddle and went to show her the ring, but Christine was just so elated she just said yes, hugged and kissed him, and didn’t see the ring until after the excitement calmed down.  What a great story to pass onto their children and hopefully for generations!  They wanted their wedding day to be simple and special, so they married in a beautiful church and had an intimate reception at Lake Elmo Inn Restaurant.

The day started at Christine’s childhood home.  Her friend worked on her makeup and hair, while the rest of the family did preparations from their day.  I was welcomed in, like family, and for that I am so grateful.  The limo arrived to take the wedding party to the Tamarack Nature Center for photos.  This place in the fall is dreamy, and despite the construction, the girls looked graceful walking in their heels to the Prarie for photos.  After the first look, Charlie and Savannah (Pat’s daughter) joined in for photos.  I worked with these two on our last shoot, and they are highly motivated by candy, but drive a hard bargain.  They brought light and energy to the photos and looked darn good doing so.

Everyone piled back in the limo and headed to St. Jude of the Lake Church for the ceremony.  The father tied in the couple’s love story, which gave the Catholic mass a special feel, and after their official first kiss, Christine and Pat stood outside to greet their guests as husband and wife.

The final stop on their wedding day was St. Elmo Inn Restaurant.  Their friend and family gathered around the tables to toast, cheer, and eat one heck of a delicious meal.  I was again treated like family, and sat next to some mutual friends and enjoyed one of the best meals I have ever had, thank you!!! Christine is a pastry chef and made her own cake- it was gorgeous!  I can’t even believe her talent.

This was such a special wedding day to be apart of!  I am so thankful and grateful for their generosity and wish this happy family nothing but the best of a lifetime together!  Congratulations Christine and Pat!

Still here?  Want to see their engagement shoot?  Check it out!
