Savannah and Ryan – 8/6/16 – Irvine Park and The Happy Gnome in St. Paul, MN
Savannah had a special feeling about Ryan when they were at the Handsome Hog in St. Paul. It was on this date that she realized how much she liked him even though he was leaving to serve our country. They didn’t say goodbye, but instead spent as much time talking on the phone as possible, and as Savannah’s matron of honor shared in her speech, they fell in love while they were apart. A true love story. They were happily reunited, and this past August, married in Irvine Park and held a reception at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul.
They wanted to do their first look at Mears Park, which is not only right by the Handsome Hog, but also by Savannah’s old apartment. They love Lowertown, and they could not have asked for a better day to stroll through the park. For August, the temperature was mild thanks to the party cloudy skies, and the park was unusually quiet, perfect for photos.
After the reveal, we headed to Irvine Park for the ceremony. Their families and friends were shuttled over from the hotel, and Savannah’s brother officiated the ceremony. The book he used to keep his notes was one of the greatest things I have ever seen (please see photo below!) It was weather damaged, so the title read something like, “Constipation; the cause, the effect, and the ??” and the photos inside showed a man wearing very tight shorts doing stretches. It was from the 60’s. Their ceremony was sweet, witty, and Savannah honored her father by placing a rose by his photo.
The final stop of the day was at the Happy Gnome where their guests gathered for the best selection of microbrews in the city. There wasn’t a formal dance, but rather some heart felt speeches from bridal party and lots of conversation. St. Paul is a special city to this couple, and I really loved how every place on their wedding day tied into their love story, it just made everything that much more special. I am so happy for these two! They are together, happily married with a beautiful home in St. Paul and an adorable dog. May this love story continue on and on!
