Interstate Park Engagement Session / Cassie + Travis

Cassie and Travis met at a party.  They both were sober cabs for their respective friends and started talking.  Travis had a mullet and a beard, so when Cassie ran into him a few weeks later, she almost didn’t recognize him.  What started as friends blossomed and now they own a house and are parents to two adorable dogs.  They currently live in Pine City and love spending time outdoors, so they picked Interstate Park for their engagement session.

The original day of their Interstate Park engagement session, the forecast read winter storm.  With everyone coming from all over Minnesota, we held off, which was a good call, because the storm was epic and dumped a ton of  snow all over the trails.  We rescheduled for the next day when the roads were clear so their photos would have the freshest of snow.

Before heading to the park, Cassie and Travis stopped at Schoony’s Malt Shop in Taylor’s Falls.  They shared a chocolate shake topped with whip cream and cherries because true Minnesotan’s eat ice cream all year round.

Next stop was Interstate Park in Wisconsin.  Both sides of the park are stunning, but after all of the snow, the Wisconsin side had plowed more of the parking lots.  Grody and Braten, their sweet Golden Retreievers, joined us on the unplowed trails for some very snowy hiking and photos.  By the time we returned back to the cars, all of our shoes and socks were soaked, but Cassie and Travis were up for one more spot to hopefully catch some of the sunset.

We drove the lake and headed up the hill.  It was almost golden hour and what had started as a cloudy day was now becomming clear.  Despite being wet and frozen, Cassie and Travis were able to smile, laugh, and have fun.  They threw snow up in the air and at each other.  Gordy and Braten waited patiently for them back at the car before everyone piled in to head home.

Their wedding day this August is bound to be much warmer.  I’ll be heading to their home town in Pine City for their wedding day and couldn’t be more excited!
