Day Block Event Center Wedding / Elin + Mike
Elin and Mike met on OkCupid thanks to their love of delicious beer. They had their first date at the Sample Room, and spent their second biking around North East Minneapolis and Nicollet Island. They love all things Minneapolis (Me too!) so they chose to keep everything downtown for their Day Block Event Center Wedding
Elin and Mike dressed in separate rooms of the Aloft Hotel. They kept the wedding party small and were surrounded by family. Elin’s sister had just had a baby, so her niece, Iyla, helped watch her little sister and put on Elin’s shoes. There was no formal first look. Mike met eyes with Elin right out of the elevator. He grinned, took her hand, then they went out the door toward the Guthrie Theater.
Besides it’s artistic interior, the Guthrie’s Endless bridge has one heck of a view of the city that’s essential for photos. We started there then made our way back inside for the rest of their pictures. We had planned on their families meeting us at Gold Medal Park, but it had started to sprinkle.
Family and friends arrived Day Block Event Center as Dreamboat Music played. The ceremony was performed by one of their friends who shared some juicy details about how they met and their first few years together. It invited the entire audience into their love story. Before the ceremony was over, they grabbed a selfie stick to take an official selfie wedding photo.
Social hour started in the other room where guests could choose from some of Elin and Mike’s favorite beers and flavors of La Croix. Deco catering set the tables with the hexagon center pieces made by the couple themselves, check out their business, Tauteco, then vases of flowers surrounded by pieces of Rose Quartz. Once dinner was ready, guests took their seats and the toasts began.
Elin’s sister Bryna shared a story from when they announced their engagement. Elin’s niece asked her why she was marrying Mike. Elin replied, “Because he’s my best friend.” It was heart warming. Mike’s brother took the stage and said some inspiring words on behalf of his side of the family.
The dance floor kicked off with Elin and Mike’s first dance. Guests joined them shortly after Before our time ended together, we made our way to the rooftop for one last photo with the Minneapolis skyline in the background.
Elin and Mike- your wedding day was fantastic! You both are so down to earth, and very artistic and talented. Your family and friends were a pleasure to be around, and the table you sat me at for dinner was so fun! I am so honored to have been apart of your day, I hope to you see you both around the yoga studio soon! Much love to you both!
