Another Trip Around the Sun Brings Wisdom
Well…. today is my birthday. I don’t get as excited about them as I used to (I mean once you get past 25, you just start feeling old). But what I love about birthdays is that it gives real friends an excuse to come together and celebrate. We did just that this past weekend at my husband’s family farm. Each year, a core group of six of us go, but this year we had some fresh blood when another two of our friends joined.
We all arrived Friday and kept it low key with grilling, frisbee, and a bonfire. Saturday we woke up early to eat breakfast. My husband always makes eggs, potatoes, and anything else he can get his hands on. After we ate, wet headed out to Lanesboro to tube down the Root river. We were blessed with perfect sunny weather and high waters, I couldn’t be more grateful.
This past year has taught me a lot about friendship. I make friends easily and see the best in people. Although this is good, sometimes it can go the other way, and I think I’m closer with people than I am. I mean we invited 300 some people to our wedding and I barely see half of them now.
I’m bringing this up because these people above are true friends. They have celebrated with me during the highs, but have been there for me for the lows, and I will do the same just for them. I’m going to continue to nurture the friendships that make me feel grounded and stable, and I hope you do the same. Life is about finding happiness through connections, and this past weekend I was able to do that and them some.
Another trip around the sun brings wisdom, cheers to all you fellow leos out there!
